2007 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium
December 20, 2007

More than 8000 physicians, scientists, and breast cancer advocates from throughout the world were in San Antonio, Texas, December 13-16 for the 30th annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

The San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium is one of the most important breast cancer conferences held each year. Not only is important new research presented (investigators frequently wait until San Antonio to release their findings), but experts are invited to address some of the latest developments and controversies in breast cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.

On our blog, Health Watch, Dr. Love posted daily updates from the Symposium. We encourage you to go beyond the headlines and news reports and get Dr. Love's expert opinion on the research presented at San Antonio.

Some of the topics she discusses are:

• The paradigm shift that is occurring in how we think about breast cancer.

• What we've learned from meta-analyses about breast cancer treatment.

• The ability of Oncotype DX to predict recurrence in women with hormone-sensitive node-positive tumors, and what this means for breast cancer treatment.

• Hormonal therapies and bisphosphonates.

• MRI and imaging.

• Breast cancer stem cells.

• Exercise and breast cancer.

• Methods for addressing treatment side effects, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.

Join the discussion on our blog here.
