Meribeth Brand has over twenty five years experience in servicing the investment requirements of high net worth families, foundations and not-for-profit institutions at her current position at TCW, as well as earlier positions with Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Merrill Lynch and Hambrecht & Quist. She earned a B.S. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Illinois and an MBA with a Finance emphasis from the University of Southern California. She is a member of the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts and the Association for Investment Management and Research. Ms. Brand is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Investment Counselor.

Helene Brown has spent the last 42 years tirelessly fighting cancer as a “political oncologist,” educating the public in prevention and early detection and striving to raise millions for research. As a staunch advocate for cancer research and prevention, Ms. Brown was instrumental in the Surgeon General’s report on smoking as well as demonstrating the importance of pap smears for women. She was recently honored with the Minerva Award from the California Governor’s Office – an honor bestowed on women who have dedicated themselves to building outreach programs that have made a difference in the lives of Californians and furthered positive change. Her many accomplishments include serving as the former L.A. County Commissioner of Public Health, past National Vice President of the American Cancer Society, and Senior Lecturer at UCLA’s School of Public Health. Helene Brown is unswerving in her belief that the overall death rate from cancer can be slashed in half by 2015.

Dr. Susan M. Love is a pioneer in the field of women’s health. In her ongoing quest to eradicate breast cancer, she has used every avenue from founding the national advocacy movement to starting companies, engaging in research, and promoting breast cancer education. She serves on the boards of the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Y-ME, and the Young Survival Coalition, and was appointed by President Clinton to the National Cancer Advisory Board. She is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, founder and Chief Medical Officer of Windy Hill Medical, a breast cancer prevention company, and senior partner in LLuminari, a multimedia women’s health company. She is the author of Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book, termed “the Bible for women with breast cancer” by The New York Times and Dr. Susan Love’s Menopause and Hormone Book, one of the first to sound the alarm against the widespread use of postmenopausal hormones.

Kate McLean provides consulting services to nonprofit organizations and foundations. Ms. McLean has worked more than 35 years in the philanthropic world, recently as President of the Ventura County Community Foundation where she grew the Foundation from $300,000 in assets to more than $70 million in current and future gifts. In other work, she was responsible for starting Ventura County’s shelters for runaways, their first group homes for abused children, the first battered women’s shelter and the County’s information and referral system among many other programs. Currently, Ms. McLean is a member of the Board of Regents for California Lutheran University, sits on the boards of a private grantmaking foundation and a Latino foundation and the Ventura County Civic Alliance, both organizations that she helped established. Ms. McLean is also the co-founder of the Social Justice Fund for Ventura County, a new grantmaking and education organization focused on the root causes of social problems.

Nina Merrill is Vice President of Association Management Services, Inc., a full-service association management company. Ms. Merrill has more than 20 years of nonprofit experience. She was formerly the Executive Director of the Rotary Club of Los Angeles and the founding Executive Director of the Association of Air Medical Services. Ms. Merrill has served on the Board of Directors of the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women, Council of the Children’s Burn Center, and the Los Angeles Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Melissa Wayne brings over 25 years of leadership and management experience in both non-profit and small business sectors. Currently an independent writer/producer, she is President and partner of 3 Oh! 5 Creative, Inc., a multi-media production company, and has served on the board of directors for the National Association of Women Business Owners-Los Angeles, Big Thinking Women, Unlimited, and co-chaired the Women’s Foundation of California Los Angeles Donor Circle. A graduate of the University of Kansas, University of Texas at San Antonio, and UCLA’s Anderson Business School Executive Management Program, she has worked extensively with social service, educational, and business organizations to improve opportunities for families and children.
