A Message from Dr. Love
Beyond the Pink Haze
I can’t believe that it’s already October and that another Breast Cancer Awareness Month—and the pink haze that it brings—is here.

I know that for many of you, every month (or day) is, in essence, about breast cancer, either because you are living with breast cancer, a long-term survivor, had a dear friend or family member die of the disease, or are a breast cancer advocate working to focus more political attention and government dollars on funding breast cancer research.

I also know that for many of us, it is a month of runs, walks, and pink products! This is both good and bad. I’m thrilled that we have more cause marketing opportunities this October than we’ve ever had before, because it’s great to see so many companies interested in supporting our work. At the same time, I want people to know that breast cancer is not restricted to October and neither are the Foundation’s fundraising needs! I won’t stop once November comes around and neither should you. MORE >

Research Update
L.A.-Area Women Needed for Breast Study
The Foundation is looking for 30 Los Angeles-area women who are between 35 and 55 years of age and who are at high risk for getting breast cancer to take part in a study of a new nipple fluid dipstick test. The dipstick reacts to biomarkers that may be present in breast fluid. It might one day be used to identify which women are at increased risk of getting breast cancer. To take part in this study, you need to be able to express fluid from your nipple. The dipstick test doesn't hurt and takes only a few minutes. Volunteers will be compensated $50 for their time. If you think you qualify please call Gemma Cabrera at (310) 828-0060 Ext. 32 or send her an email.
