A Message from Dr. Love
We’re Growing!

It’s been a hot summer, and I’m happy that I’ve had time to enjoy a few days off here and there in cooler California to enjoy it. I hope you have too!

August is a month of transition, with vacations winding down and schools starting up. Here at the Foundation, we’re experiencing quite a bit of transition as well, as we prepare to renovate and expand our office space. By the end of the year our space will have doubled in size!

This new space is necessary because the Foundation is expanding at a record pace. To guide our growth, we’re hiring five new employees. We’ve also added three new members to our board of directors and are in the process of recruiting two more.

All of this is possible because of the amazing staff we currently have as well as the tremendous support you give to the Foundation all year round. MORE >

Menopause and Vaginal Dryness
Vaginal dryness is perhaps the most distressing and least talked about symptom of menopause. It occurs in about 20 percent of women, sometimes transiently and other times permanently. How does vaginal dryness feel? Itchy is how most women describe it. Vaginal dryness also can cause pain and bleeding during intercourse and increase the possibility of developing a vaginal infection.

Like other menopausal symptoms, vaginal dryness is not something you have to accept. On our website you can find information about lifestyle changes, lubricants, supplements, and vaginal estrogen products. You can also learn which products are safest for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and which they should avoid. MORE >

Your Questions
I've heard that breast density is a risk factor for breast cancer. How can I reduce my breast density?
Breast density is a measure of the composition of the breast. Women with dense breasts have more fibrous tissue and less fat, while those with less dense breasts have less fibrous tissue and more fat.

Many people think that breast density is inherited—which would mean that there is little that you can do about it.
